It is with a heavy heart that we note the passing of Dr. Andrew Parsa, chairman of neurological surgery at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Parsa passed away suddenly Monday morning, April 13. He was just 48 years old.  He is survived by his wife Charlotte and their three young daughters.

After a stellar career at Yale undergraduate and Downstate Medical Center, his research presentations while still a resident at Columbia made him known nationwide as one of the most promising tumor neurosurgeons of his generation. During his years on staff at UCSF and most recently as Chair of Neurosurgery at Northwestern, he showed every sign of fulfilling and even exceeding this early promise.  Andy’s research led to an ongoing multicenter brain vaccine protocol; he led a SPORE project and his own R01 grant; he published over 300 papers, chapters, and monographs. He was a skillful surgeon and a good friend.

Please join us in keeping Andy and his family in your thoughts.
