Description

The MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital, in collaboration with Children's Memorial Hospital welcome you to attend the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Symposium honoring the memory of Dr. Marnie Rose.

Dr. Marnie Rose was 27 and in the first year of a pediatric medical residency at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, TX when she was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. Marnie courageously shared her story through the ABC reality series Houston Medical, which aired its final episode just five weeks before her death on August 23, 2002, from complications of the cancer. Her compelling story lives on, and has inspired those who knew her and have come to know her through the foundation established in her memory.

This symposium will attract the leading international experts in childhood brain tumors. It is designed as one and a half days of intense interactive sessions for participants to discuss the current concepts, challenges, and ongoing research of multimodality treatment for various childhood brain tumors. Scientists, physicians, and trainees from across the country will have an opportunity to share thoughts, discuss current issues, and initiate much needed phase I trials in recurrent/refractory pediatric brain tumors. This meeting will also present a unique platform to gather subspecialty experts in pediatric brain tumors, allowing scientists and physicians to share information and to define research or clinical endeavors for the future. The challenges, solutions, and novel concepts discussed will encourage attendees to prepare strategies for new translational research and to profile possible new therapies.
